Lovely old world pub near the Navestock Golf Courses serving excellent home cooked food and a fine selection of good beers. All food Portions are generous and it keeps it's great warm pub atmosphere as well as being a busy food led house.
Very popular for at lunchtimes and early evenings and handy for living local as they do a full menu takeaway.

This country pub just outside of Brentwood is my local pub and was my dad's also back in the 80's and he reckons it's not altered in anyway .It still serves great cask ales, really good draught Guinness and 3 lager choices, It's a good old fashioned pub, serving good honest food and drink with a warm and friendly homely atmosphere.
The menu has so much choice and it's all home made, the fresh chips are always good and they've got the best steak pie for miles . You don't get a waitress service or tablecloth and you wont see any children in here , which makes for a nice quiet stress free
The staff are really friendly and chatty and I never seen an unhappy member of staff here as they all seem to enjoy their jobs.
Every Sunday they do a choice of 4 roasts with delicious roast spuds and fresh vegetables and real gravy and if you get there earlier enough you also get a free dessert.
The patio is great in the summer if you wish to bring the kids but beware you wont get a Child menu here but the prices are really reasonable.

I had read mixed reviews about this pub and have been wanting to try the Alma for a while so a large party of us did last night and we were not disappointed! It was packed but we soon were seated. The service was great and the staff are so friendly, and more importantly, the food was faultless! We both opted for the steak pie and the chips were fresh and cooked to perfection and the portions are just huge!! It's such good value We were too full to have a desert but we will try to have one next time! The Abbott ale was perfect and the driver in our party had the homemade lemonade which she said was so refreshing in this hot weather. We will be going back very soon and suggest to everyone to give it a try!

Lovely friendly country pub. The Abbott ale is well kept here and they have healthy home made lemonade and freshly squeezed orange juice for the non drinkers A large patio beer garden out front in the summer and a large car park so you can always get a space as it gets really busy here lunchtimes and early evenings Food is very good and is the best value food in the area. fresh and well presented. You have to pick your food up at the bar which suits me as you get it very quick.
