After a disappointing 90 mins watching the Boro up at Hillsborough this was a great start to our post match pub crawl. Very good ale, excellent food and brilliant friendly service! Alfnoax - 5 May 2013 18:29
Paid my first visit to the Hillsborough recently and was not impressed. Six handpumps offering beers from Rudgate and the pub's own Wood Street Brewery. My companion and I opted for the Wood Street Pale Ale, dispensed through a sparkler. The beer was hazy and flat. I returned the beers and asked for the sparkler to be removed. The beer was still flat. We cut our losses and left. There is a pleasant terrace at the back of the pub offering views across the Don Valley. However, on this showing, I won't be rushing back. holbornboy - 22 Apr 2013 21:14
a great way to start off our valley crawl. about 8 to 10 ales on tap. their own WSB (?) ales and about 4 from Oxforshire. don't judge the outside appearance, it's great inside! juninhocrunch - 11 Dec 2012 11:00
They brew a very fine Ebony Stout here which made it difficult to resist coming back a few times on the tram. It only cost £2.50 a pint too. The staff are friendly, service is prompt, and the Sunday lunch is pretty good. About 10 or 15 minutes' walk from the other very good pubs in the Kelham area. apchilcott - 16 Oct 2012 21:04
On a recent day out in Sheffield this was one of our ports of call and it was well worth the tram ride to it. The brewery has apparently been recently renamed Woodstreet but I guess the beers are just as good as they ever were and the Woodstreet Pale was just about the best beer I drank all day. The hotel provides pleasant surroundings and prices are cheap! Recommended. doctorpint - 19 Sep 2012 20:48
