Honest barman gave me back a pound from the £3.20 I proffered for a pint as it was only £2.40. Another ok as opposed to great pub but worth the slink off down a back jigger to find it.

The Pendle Witch is tucked away down an alleyway just off the main street in Atherton and near the town's car parks. You wouldn't know it was here, unless you'd been told about it. I first arrived at this Moorhouses pub at lunchtime, only to find it doesn't open until 3pm. You enter through a conservatory. But that gives way to a large, dark bar area. An excellent range of Moorhouses ales was on offer - Pendle Porter, Premier Bitter, Blond Witch, Pendle Witches Brew, Pride of Pendle & White Witch. They also had Wychwood The Dog's Boll*cks & Old Mill Liquid Gold. Lilleys Bee Sting Perry & Westons Old Rosie were keg cider options. Customers were friendly and so were the staff. Receiving more change than I'd actually paid for my drink was quite entertaining, as was another young lady managing to drop the contents of the float for the till across the bar! A nice pub though and well worth a visit if you're ever in Atherton.

A decent local boozer, great choice of Moorhouses and guest ales, all well kept. Worth a visit.

Excellent boozer.

Full of top class ales, always friendly atmosphere, and the landlady is really generous and welcoming; always bobbing round with free snacks and things, which makes newcomers feel really part of it. Backed by Moorhouses so it's obvious why it's packed with tip top ale.

A little hidden away from Atherton's main drag; tucked away in a neat little alleyway besides a takeaway (which is also handy), makes it a nice quaint little spot.

Brilliant place, really looks after it's ale too. Very well decorated, and kept in tip top condition. Also... not a bad jukebox.

Puts on events nearly every week (possibly every week I'm not 100%), great food, great offers. Probably one of the best in town.

Serving more or less the full Moorhouses range of ales, the Pendle Witch is a cosy enough place, although i did get the impression of it being a local's local if you know what i mean. Drank a Blonde Witch and one of the guest beers, both well kept and reasonably priced.

Worth a visit if you find yourself in the Atherton area.
