Lovely, friendly pub. My mother had her retirement do here and they were really accommodating, and ensured the evening went smoothly.

not sure why this pub is rated so highly. it has an interesting atmos. clientele seems to be old locals and students, which is good. their jukebox was playing qualla tunes all night, but i guess that depends on who's in charge. comfy chairs and nice layout, but lighting wasn't great and beer selection very poor.

My wife and I recently had our daughter christened and we wanted to have a bit of a celebration afterwards. I wasn't too sure about having it in a pub but it turned out fantastic. The publican pulled out all the stops to make sure everything went smoothly, reserving half the pub for us . The food was plentiful and wholesome, the pub had been decorated as a lovely suprise for us, and even though I had rashly decided to have a free bar for our friends this didn't break the bank. So with the combination of good food, cheap drink, nice friendly atmosphere and helpful staff the day went off with a bang.

This pub is definately worth a visit if you are looking for a genuine local establishment, which are few and far between in the elephant and castle area.

Great pub! Clean, nice carpet floor and furniture, good crowd, super-friendly and attentive landlord, good food, drinks moderately priced, four large flat screens showing everything of relevance, pool table, outdoor seating... I'm a regular now! Gents room could be a bit nicer, but it's not terrible and you won't spend much time there anyway.
