il cicchetto bar is a place where you must go! they are busy monday to friday, lunch time and evening time.. they have a full italian menu with home made pasta as well!!
The young man owner should be voted as "businessman of the year" because i've been working in old street for many years, but i've never seen that small pub working like now.
had a chat with him last week and he hasn't realized yet what he has done. for them "they are just running a bar" but, in my opinion, they are just doing an amazing job!
fantastic range of drought beers: stella black , beck's vier, wandle ale, guinness, vedett and, my favourite one, czech beer kozel. good range of bottles as well and good continental wines..
it's become my local bar even if i should start to book a table to find a sit :-)

Now called Il Cicchetto and owned and run by a couple of Italian chaps, this place has a great Friday night vibe.
Live DJs from 6pm has had the punters grooving on the last 2 Friday's I've been there, even managing to pull in a hard working council bin man for a quick boogey before he had to run and catch his truck!
San Miguel, Carlsburg, Guiness on tap, cocktails and Italian type snacks on offer.

Re-visited on Thursday afternoon to find it re-opened. The impressive tiled exterior is let down by the lounge-bar style interior. Inside, there is little or no atmosphere. The TV was showing Sky Sports News, but with no sound. After a while, the barman did switch on some ambient music. But this did little to improve the atmosphere. There are 3 glass tables with stools and a separate area of 'cube-like' seating around a lower table. The Adnams Bitter handpull had its clip turned round, leaving a choice of Becks Vier, Peroni, Staropramen or Guinness on draught. Bulmers was available in bottles (4.10) and 'gourmet pies' were advertised at 2.95 each. Cocktail menus were supplied for each table. This may be a place for a fleeting visit after work. But probably not one to linger.

Definitely open and selling Adnams last night.

Currently closed and under renovation. It's supposed to be re-opened in the next couple of weeks.
