| Went at 4:20pm on a Saturday afternoon, fairly busy, virtually all men at the bar watching the football results coming in, swearing for England, some of them very drunk indeed, quite unpleasant, 2 real ales on Doombar & Pride I think, but I decided to leave without ordering a drink. | Seems that an effort is made with the beer here. Good to see a couple of beers from the local Loddon Brewery available as well as Sharp's Doom Bar; the Hoppit was on good form. Music can be a bit pumping in here which personally for me spoils it. pchaimba - 1 Nov 2009 21:04 |
| Large roadhouse type pub on the A4. Has had something of a reputation in the past and was never an attractive place. However, a new regime over the last 2-3 years has improved things dramatically. Always 4 real ales on - permanently Adnams Bitter, Sharp's Doom Bar, West Berks Gold Old Boy and a regular guest, usually from Hog's Back at the moment. Friendly and attentive staff. Good honest cheap bar food (no frills). Seperate side room, handy for club meetings, and further seperate bar room with pool table - handy for keeping the younger element off to one side.
