The Gardener's Arms was the first stop of a tour of Oxford pubs on Thursday afternoon/evening. It is a backstreet pub that has plenty of character and a decent selection of ales. Animal Salamander, Shakespeare The Bard's Best, Loddon Hoppit & Flying Monk Habit were on, alongside Weston's Rosie's Pig cider. Pumpclips line the walls, indicating a varied selection of ales and ciders. Vegetarian food is served.

This pub remains one of Oxford's best. Excellent all-vegatarian menu and selection of beers & cider - although the rotation of different beers means that you rarely see the same one twice. At busy times it is so popular that getting a seat can be difficult - more so in winter when the garden isn't an option.

Great backstreet boozer, tucked away. Well kept beer, always friendly staff whenever I've visited (admittedly only about 4 times over the past 3 years), nice laid back vibe. Never eaten here but the food is popular and very good, according to the locals.

I really did not like this pub at all. very poor service from a goth type who was devoid of any civility or manners. The menu was very expensive for basic vegetarian food that I could produce at home for a few pence! Poorest pub on what was an extensive pub crawl.

Have been to this pub many times and always found it to be a very good pub, friendly staff and customers. But tonight the guy behind the bar was more interested in his laptop, which was on the back of the bar. Therefore most of the night was spent with his back to the customers who were wanting to be served.
Seemed like a don't care attitude. Do these people not realise that the customers pay their wages. Got to mark it down for this.
