This pub affords little scope for any would-be Dadaist reviewers out there.

It serves good quality beer, wine and food, in modernised surroundings, but without any particular theme or interest in the interior. Given its location, you needn't be another Poirot to wonder if they might be missing something on that point.

Prices are about 25% higher than the Rashleigh - a tenner for a pint and a glass of wine.

Don't expect impromptu stand-up, or wassailing, for that matter.

Six-out-of-ten it can only be.

Not sure that there is any regulation amount specified for the sale of fortified wine as long as it is shown on the price list. exactly what measure you are getting for your money. Usually sold in 50 ml units but no reason it cant be sold in any other specified amount. Vermouths sold by branded optics (Martini etc) are often sold in 68 ml measure.
In fact apart from draught beer and cider, it's just whisky rum, gin and vodka that have statutary amounts specified (25 or 35 ml or multiples thereof

Unfortunately they have no idea of the weights and measures act. Living very close to here and we love the location very sad to report that the bar staff have completely ignored the law of the land and serve fortified wine in 25ml measures rather than what is stated in the regs.
I am a personal licence holder and take great exception to being ripped off!

Atractive looking from the outside, it's more a locals pub. Food is ok (childeren's chairs available) but service at the bar is slag: locals come first. 3 for Doom Bar and Tribute, 3.40 for Carlsberg. Only 50p for pool table.
Try next door: The Pier Inn. Friendly staff, cosy little pub area. Sharp's Doom & Special, Bass and Cornish Knocker.

Great location pub, and catered for our hungry family when we descended on it - and at a reasonable price.
