Its a real pub! Its fantastic! Friendly and chatty staff and locals.

Good ales, Harveys, Fuller's London Pride and Westerham Brewery Grasshopper and I can vouch for the quality of the Harveys and the Grasshopper.

Good no nonsense food at no nonsense prices.

Its off the A26 just north of Crowborough but the main road no longer goes pat it. It is worth leaving the main road to get to this pub.

Probably the cleanest pub I've ever been in, everything just gleams. Well kept Harveys, a very pretty pub, a lovely open fire, really quite nice.

Lovely old classic pub building with nooks & crannies everywhere. Adnams, London pride & Harveys on, I tried the Adnams and Harveys & they were both good. Food was reasonably priced and everyone enjoyed it, I had "wild boar sausages" which were excellent. Bunch of right grumpy locals barricading the bar but I can put up with that.

We arrived bedraggled out of the rain and our group group of 8 was welcomed warmly. We enjoyed a range of food (at reasonable prices) which sustained us for our onward journey. Very pleased given the reviews below.

Pros: Beautiful low-beamed building. Log fires. Polite , efficient and (mostly) friendly service. Nice Harveys on tap.

Cons: Food is frankly poor to average. Roast beef was rubbery, fish and chips looked like they'd been cooked, left and then reheated. Would agree with the previous comments about freezer-fare. Could have done better myself with very little effort.

Such a nice atmosphere in the pub, I really wanted to like it. Can't score it more highly due to the very disappointing food. I will return one day, but not to eat.
