A bit of an enigma this one. About half a mile from Coniston on the road to Torver, it is a Robinsons house selling XB and Cumbrian Way. The latter was in good condition. The Pub offers a good selection of food, but unusually does not really seem to cater for the walker; no boots in the Pub and no dogs. Naturally this is up to the landlord, but as mentioned previously, they would be better served by being more walker friendly particularly when there are two excellent Pubs in Coniston who are just that. Also, be aware that they close at 2.30 in the afternoon, opening once more at 6pm.

Just outside the main part of coniston but a pleasant walk along the old railway line. The ship is mostly aimed for eaters but does offer 2 good real ales (they lack imagination but kept well). The pub decor is a little boring and would be better adopting a classic walkers bar, but there u go. The service was good and the food relatively basic but good value and yummy.

Wasn't open on my previous visit, but was this time. Multi-roomed pub aimed at the food market. Did real ales though and they were OK.

I walked down there in January for a meal but it was closed!, i think it must be a seasonal pub? or they just have certain opening times maybe?, whenever i go there it seems to be closed i will take note of the opening times next time i pass. I did have a drink there a couple of years back and it seemed quite a pleasant pub!
