Reasonable kind of pub with live music (a band doing the heavy rock staples of deep Purple etc) . Quite friendly despite it being very busy. Ale was a struggle to drink though so I switched to lager.

Situated at the foot of a High Street that seemed to have its fair share of closed pubs, the Salopian Brewery sign outside invited me in.
The pub is on two levels, a pool table on the first level, and plenty of other tables/chairs and a real fire on the upper. It did have a slightly clinical, modern feel, but overall the pub was clean, warm and certainly worth a stop. The Salopian Gold was good, as was a seasonal offering from the nearby Six Bells Brewery. Other real ales were available whilst the bar staff were friendly.
Give it a go.

Under new management and this couple have sorted out the food as well as keeping the best beer around. Ever changing local brews as well as the Salopian Brewery "classics". Always 5 Ales on. Food served everyday and of very high quality including Sunday lunches. Decent entertainment on some weekends and always a very welcoming greeting. Always a great place for the odd one or a session!
This pub is going from strength to strength - well done Phil & Di

Shropshire Gold guaranteed to be spot on, backed by other Salopian and local offerings for variety. Food still good value. Landlord welcoming and convivial. Worth a visit or two!

Beer festival this Weekend (29th April-2nd May) The new landlord Richard (plus Mum & Dad) is really making every effort to make this a great pub, with great food and great Beer. Perhaps BIGC should revisit now the initial manager after the refit is long gone.
