Travelled a long way last night by cab to watch a band play at the Chatterton only to find the landlord had told them they were "too loud" after a couple of locals had apparently complained. ffs they were a rock band what does he expect? They had only just set up and sound checking. Unbelievable as he had actually booked this band and other rock bands in the past and never had a problem with any of them. Consequently myself and quite a few other people left the pub to go elsewhere, and we have no intention of returning.

A few dozen of us turned up for a great local band. During their soundcheck a couple of the grumpy locals complained to the landlord about the volume. The band turned it down to a ridiculously low level. Still too loud apparently so the gig got pulled. We'd paid £20 in taxi and bus fares to see the gig and paid good money for mediocre drinks. Between everyone I reckon they took a couple of hundred off us in bar proceeds. The landlord knew exactly what type of band it was well in advance. Moral of this story, if you get asked to play here and you have a drummer...think twice. If you get invited to come to see a gig. Think twice. Bottom line... Unprofessional and not worth the effort!

Wow what a change. New managers have really done their job pub looks great garden is stunning and even has a bar for parties, kids are safe and entertained with the bouncy castle. Inside is still needing a lick of paint and some new furniture but spoke to the lovely landlady who informed us that will be done towards the end of the year so can live with that. Prices are a little high compared to some but some are very reasonable. Used to be a bit of a workers local but now the not so nice people have been well and truely shown the door is very friendly and safe for families, couples and the girls. It really is a pleasure to see some passion and care go into the place - weekends have live entertainment and there is selected sports shown in the pool room overall a great pub now and only getting better - definately the best in the area.
