user reviews of Oxton Bar and Terrace, Oxton Village

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Oxton Bar & Kitchen is right at the centre of the village. It initially seemed quite a nice place. But one of our party was soon reprimanded for wearing a football shirt and asked to cover up! Certainly a pretentious place - this is the Wirral, not Surrey! The 3 ales were Liverpool Organic 24 Carat Gold & South Pale & Spitting Feathers Thirst Quencher. Nice enough place. Shame about the staff's attitude.

I was enticed in by the sight of Liverpool Organic brewery's wares on the bar. Overpriced and in poor condition.

One for the posers who want to be seen to have a bit of cash.

On the plus side, it was clean.

Went here last night. Crowded and full of wannabees. Hoegaarden at 4 per pint!!!!! Holy crap this is Birko not Pimlico!

I had a look at this place last night and decided it was not for me. A pretentious cocktail bar in my opinion. Its' website pretty much tells you all you need to know.
I last went in here in the 1980's when it was the Talbot Inn.

Formerly The Oxton Arms, this has been transformed from a run down pub into a wine bar. Ideal location in the centre of the village with a small but well kept outside drinking area. Inside the decor is a bit oppresive & dark & the lack of natural light makes this even worse. Food is top quality with a great choice. Beer selection is small but interesting with continental lagers dominating. This place really comes into its own with the choice of cocktails. The bar staff have extensive knowledge & are very helpful & happy to explain the choices. Service from all the staff is very good & with some nice leather couches amongst the usual tables & chairs it creates a very relaxed atmosphere. Beware though, this place is heaving at the weekends & if you are looking for a budget night out then this is certainly not the place to go. It is VERY expensive!
