A friendly, lively boozer. Totally unpretentious and all the better for it.

Plenty of real ale but some of the breweries used are second rate, but some are good (Brimstage, Liverpool Organic, Titanic).

Can be hard to get to the bar due the it being crowded with barflies and an ever-present gang of smokers crammed into the doorway is never pleasant to push through (why they don't use the smoking area to the rear, I've no idea).

Open mic nights can be hilarious, quiz nights too. Generously filled sandwiches available in a cooler on the bar.

Pub is called The Cock and Pullet so should be changed at the top of the page.
1st visit proved a really excellent experience. 6 or 7 ales on,all very well kept and tasty, including Wobbly Bob...The surroundings on the wall were very interesting with lots of old photos of Birkenhead as well as some quirky little additions around the place. Very friendly, helpful staff too. A little gem of a pub. Worth the visit for football fans.Locals were really friendly too and felt welcomed as an away fan.Around a 10-15 min walk from Prenton Park.
