9 beers on the handles, remaining one labelled and due to be supplied some time later. My Abbot was in fine condition, our soups were excellent and hot. Quiet just before 1 o clock, then busied just after 1 o clock when the lunchtime rush began. Toilets were clean (and downstairs for a change) atmosphere good, menu apparently contains some items which are trialled here for use throughout Wetherspoons. Worth another visit.

Despite the wet morning the pubn was busy, but two barmaids, one of whom appeared to have started this morning ("What glass do I put this beer in? What button do I press for this?") meant a 15 (fifteen) minute wait for service. The Abbot was good and the food satisfactory, but on taking my wife to the disabled toilet on leaving, there was an out-of-order sign stuck on the door; not for the first time, I am willing to guess. I thought of complaining, but as the guv'nor seemed to be the (only) waiter I chose not to hold up any other customers' food service. Disappointing.

Solid high ceilinged Victorian building, formally dock offices. Slightly smaller inside than appears outside, and smaller than the average Spoon. The smallest and most characterful of the three cental Southampton Spoons. Clean and tidy, there's an intimate and pleasant atmosphere. Slightly less guest selection than the average Spoon on our visit. Quite likeable.

Beer was flat - food came quickly and was OK. Say no more!
