| i would rate the pub higher if the bar staff seemed a bit more interested and the barman with the beard didn't have a "come and have a go if you think your hard enough" attitude to all the male customers who ordered drinks.Go and work in a pub in South London if you think your so tough mate. wooser - 8 Aug 2016 13:52 |
| Great location and good food and beer. Otter Lifeboat very nice session ale.The steak & ale pie was excellent. Only criticism is that they consistently serve short pints and it gets very boring to have to ask them to top up the glasses every time. | The Red Lion is tucked away in the square opposite Brewer's Quay and a short walk from the harbour. This is a fairly small pub that is clearly quite popular. There were no tables available on my Saturday evening visit. Ales were Sharps Doom Bar, Dorset Brewing Company Jurassic & Red Lion Bitter, Otter Lifeboat Ale & St Austell Tribute. Note there is a guest real cider at the rear of the bar, which was Old Rosie on this occasion. Note the excellent selection of rums among the spirits. | Ok, so you cant take your dog inside, but i didnt have a problem sitting outside eating my dinner as it was a lovely evening. The staff were polite and friendly enough towards me and the real ale was very nice. | I can only concur with previous postings...went to get a pint while the 'better half' browsed in Quay.Only the surly landlord eating lunch.No other customers...'No dogs in 'ere' bellowed the Irish brouge over his lunch.Sorry mate!
