Just enjoyed 2 beers in this very traditional pub. I tried Oak Grain and Woodfoods White IPA, both excellent.. I enjoyed the press cuttings on the wall - very amusing.
One of the reasons that i am submitting a review is that on one site i looked at it suggested it was closed. Still a vibrant entity with a music programme most Friday, Saturday and Sundays's

First impressions is a nice cosy pub. Nice selection of real ales including Abbot, Wherry, Oak. Nice open real fire. Landlord is jolly and prices are very competitive, lots of music ranging from Folk to 1950s, 60s and 1970s. They are in the Grapevine magazine for gigs so give them a look

Large garden and lots of parking spaces, I certainly will come to this pun more often and so should you.

First time I been in this pub and I have to say I was very surprised. It is old fashion type pub, and a really good atmosphere. A good selection of ales and very reasonable prices, all very well kept. Good lagers as well. It has a pool table, and open fire, and nice carpets. Land lord is a cheerful chap, and traditional.

The prices are really cheap the cheapest I have found. It has live music on Saturdays, and various type of folk on other week days as mentioned in another review.

It has a really big garden and lots of parking. Worth visit and you will be greeted in a very friendly manner. If any students out there worth a trip. I personally will be visiting this place again and again.

Old traditional pub as they use to be as they say. The main bar has nice ales, Grain Oak (at 2.40 a pint!!!), Greene King IPA, Greene King Abbot, Woodforde's Wherry, and Samuel Smith's Old Brewery Bitter, this is a Yorkshire Bitter and very popular and established in 1758 (2.20 a pint!) All these are the cheapest I have seen in Norwich. They also have different varieties of beer's, draught as well has bottled. Also this pub has an occasional guest ale as well. Nice oak bar!

The interior is very comfortable, nice carpet and comfortable seating, nice open coal fire, seating out side and a very large garden backing onto the river Wensum.

This pub also has music Folk Music on a Wednesday and Thursday, Celtic Folk on a Sunday. On a Saturday they have 1950s onwards music. Great place for any every one and cheap prices so I recommend students go to this bar they would be VERY welcome. The owner/barman is a jolly chap, and mentions "wonderful" when serving his local ales and beers.

The Gate House also has a darts team on a Monday, pool teams on Thursday, and a Crib team. Plenty of car parking space so no need to worry about that. Open from 12 pm onwards. Wonderful atmosphere go and give it a try, it's one of the best places in the City!!

Nice traditional pub, good ales all well kept and very reasonable prices. Large beer garden at rear. Plenty of parking space. Nice open fire very homely. Great music, including folk on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Music on the weekend ranging from 1950s to 1970s era.

Landlord very jolly and traditional not many pubs like this anymore so I recommend people some along if you like a traditional pub and good atmosphere. Lots of old world items behind the bar. Pub has its own Darts and pool and crib teams.
