Not only was it £5 for a pint of Moretti (here?) but I had to wait about 10 minutes to get served because there was only one person serving when it was a baking hot Saturday afternoon and there was a street market outside. On the plus side, it looks quite nice inside following a refurbishment last year. London Pride and Doom Bar were the unappealing ales. The pub next door was much busier if that signifies anything.

Seems to be on the up now. They have recently appeared on social media and are boasting a cheap £5 Sunday lunch. A well known local band have been booked for early March and some other live music dates are planned. Now been in for ages, but planning to visit when the pub band plays see what is on offer.

Unfortunately S & N just don't care so not only has the kitchen been closed for ages, the coffee machine similarly broken and not fixed, the beer & wine fridges often broken so nice warm tonic with your gin or even hot white and rose wine.

Even with the Railway across the road now closed most customers of both have abandoned it and the staff are demoralized.

Textbook example of the worst way to run a pub while they are still advertising to try to find a tenant to take it on, some hope as onerous terms! So long as you don't need to use the loos even the P.O.W. is now better.

Dropped in last Saturday at about 9pm and the place was practically empty, which does not bode well. The staff were friendly enough and the beer was tolerable if not great. Interior was clean and I have seen far worse so the lack of punters was puzzling! I am wondering if I have missed a decent little boozer here and may return next weekend.

Sad news is that Ian and his family, who have done so much to improve the food and ambiance, are leaving shortly. Seems the pubco's promises were not kept and in fact the pubco itself is now under wing of S & N management.
9.4.2010 Oldie drinker.
