After a visit to the Byatt's Brewhouse Bar in Foleshill, I moved on to this fairly nondescript pub in the Canley area of the city. You won't find any real ale here. The options were Carling, Strongbow, Strongbow Dark Fruit, John Smith's, Coors Light, Guinness, Guinness Extra Cold or Magners. Strange to see a grabbing machine in one corner. Next to a shopping precinct in a residential area.

First of all, the Captain loves this pub and visits regularly; this is solely due to his love of council estate dives however - it's impossible to recommend this place. There is no real ale, they did briefly try a barrel of Doom Bar a year ago but the staff evidently had no idea of how to keep or serve it, so it was a failure they care not to repeat.
The decor is exhausted to the point that it reeks poverty. Landlord James has paid for some work to be done out of his own pocket but it has made little impact. Various parts of the furnishings and ceiling are missing, the walls show evidence of years of damp and the brewery look to be squeezing a last few years of profit out of the place before they bulldoze it and sell the land.
The clientele are chiefly benefits scroungers and pensioners, and the atmosphere is usually one of resigned failure punctuated only by inebriation and fights.
As I said before, I love the place but it's awful. 3/10. It's worth noting that this is an improvement on it's average 2.5 rating.

All good things come to and end eventually. No real on tap yesterday (22 May 10) and seems like another change of ownership. I don't hold much hope of cask ales returning here. A damn shame if you ask me.

This pub has now reopened and under new management. Four cask ale's were on offer and was selling Tiger Bitter at 2.00 a pint. Looks like there will be more pumps being used soon, well, they've been installed anyway. I'm told this pub will be selling beers from the Warwickshire Brewery on a regular basis.

Looks like its bit the dust. It was CLOSED Saturday night at 2130 and also around the same time last night.
