Would have been better for us if we were five pints in on our pub crawl and not our first port of call.

Yes it does look like a rough local but anything is better than another St. Austell pub rip off place.

Not the place for a golf club conversation! Yes it is rough and ready but a pleasant pint of London Pride at a reasonable £3.00. Basically it is a back street working class boozer and it does what it says on the tin.

If your into your ales then this isnt the place for you - its kinda like working mensclub meets tattoo parlour. Went there about 8 months ago and won a load of money from a painter and decorator from south london playing pool, went there last week and someone said he was in prison for armed robbery - nice

I wonder if all the comments above (apart from adamisboozingasusual) come from people who have only visited the Ferrets during the day? True, all the negative comments are correct when the pub is functioning as the first watering-hole for the hordes of day-trippers who tumble off the shuttle bus with their replica footie shirts, tattoos, body piercings and legions of kids in buggies. Once they have all buggered off back to John Fowler's hi-de-hi camp in Hayle, the pub is very different. We have spent many pleasant sessions in there, the staff are friendly and efficient, and the ale, though of limited choice, has always been well kept.
