The Goat was our next stop after the pubs of Spalding. It's a country pub that does a roaring trade in meals. We chose to eat here too. But it did disappoint in that respect. Where it didn't disappoint was with the ale and cider selection. The choice was Grainstore Nip & Lord Minimus, Ringwood Boon Doggle & Forty Niner, Shipyard Summer Ale & Marstons Old Empire. Ciders were Weston's Rosie's Pig, Grainstore Lady In Pink & Rutland Cider Company Bushberry Cider & Mango Cider. The interior has a number of rooms, whilst we sat in the spacious garden which has 2 separate kids' play areas. Decent pub. But I wouldn't rave about the food.

Stands out as one of the best Fenland country inns, and is very popular - hence the large car park. A moderate range of beers of pretty good quality. As assessed by Southerner1974, the food is undistinguished and probably mainly mass-produced but pleases the clientele well enough.

A great pub - with some cracking ales. Watch out though - they always have a couple of strong ones on. Elland 1872 Porter at 6.5 - splendid, but you wouldn't want too many.

Friendly staff and locals, plus a shelf full of books about beer. Great beer garden for the summer with plenty to keep the kids occupied.

What can I say - truly carcking place - it only loses marks for being a bit foodiefied but still ale choice incredible for rural pub - excellent quality - 2 ciders - from Westons- plus at least one other keg in addition to the usual keg nonsense (John Smiths). Large menu betrays large freezers but still this is rural lincs/cambs and at least some stuff sourced locally - not fine dining but good enough. Did I say the real ale was fantastic!!!!!

Very good and popular country free house. Good selection of beers and ciders, first class food menu to eat in the bar or restaurant. Recommend you stop if in the area.
