New landlord in charge; a friendly young man. I indulged in 3 ales on our recent visits: Marston's '61 Deep' [a hoppy & tasty ale], in house beer 'George & Dragon' [tasty pint] & Slater's 'Top Totty' [nice beer].

Not too many Marstons pubs in the Good Beer Guide.

Really enjoyed my visit here - Banks Bitter in great condition. Pub is a classic of its type - nice interior, with tiled walls and classic pub furniture.

Beer Garden worth checking out - its not every pub where you can drink on a listed Civil War piece of history.

Fantastic pub, best in Lichfield. Beer is kept really well and there is always an excellent choice. Friendly landlord and locals.

It took me less than 10 minutes to walk here from the Gatehouse so dont let the edge of the City centre bit put you off.
This is a MUST visit if in Lichfield
Two bars with 8 hand pulls serving the Marstons stable of beers.
I had a very nice pint of Brakspears Oxford Gold for 2.95
