A nice little pub that we found whilst out on a stroll in the area. They had a Cottage brewery American Brown ale on which was very nice after the disappointment of the poorly-kept ales at the White Horse in nearby Woolstone. A very friendly welcome from the lady behind the bar and the locals too.

Nice quiet pub, a bit starkly furnished but perhaps that was just because there was some redecoration going on.
The beer was acceptable but the food was disappointing. Fish pie was some farmed salmon with mashed potatoes on top. Chips were thin cut, bought in. It was not bad, just bland. Service was fine.

The picturesque village of Uffington is a pleasant stopping off point after visiting local attractions or walking in this area. This pub seems to have carved a niche into the village with both locals and visitors rubbing shoulders in what appeared to be relative harmony. There is now some B&B available with several 'log cabin' style units having been built on part of the car park. Well kept ales (including the pub's own real ale) and tasty food which was good value for money. The chef appears to like doing theme nights, indian, chinese etc which again appeared good value for money. The staff were friendly but also professional - too many times have I seen bar staff larking around with locals and then in the next breath trying to present a professional image to their guests / visitors. The staff here seemed to have cracked both so good luck to them.

This is a really pleasant country pub, 3 rooms, set in a quiet working village near the White Horse monument yet off the beaten track with a fairly new landlord. Dogs, ramblers and various other mammals are heartily welcomed. The food is excellent, the egg and chips being great value for money. Fish is a speciality, but only when delivered that day. I had a pint of Hobgoblin which was in first class condition. Well worth including in a country crawl, on a good route for cycling or it makes a good location for a meal and a pint. Most definitely worth seeking out.

Seemed a pleasant enough country pub, decent beer - no complaints, will revisit if I'm in the area again. Didn't try the food but other customers seemed very happy with it.
