I think we were unlucky as there was only one real beer on and that was a lager at the bottom of the cask. However we had ciders of which there was a great choice and the landlord was excellent in seeking out one that suited us. Beware of funny opening times as it's often shut early afternoon and only open right through all day on Saturday. Best ring to check.

Travelling on a train from Watlington to London, our carriage fortuitously drew up right outside the entrance to this small pub and caf, which occupies part of the old station buildings at Downham Market station. On a whim we decided to hop off and give it a try. The interior was cosy, with interesting old railway photographs on display and a model railway track snaking round the upper walls; the small bar was serving two ales (Polar Express and Little Sharpie) and one cider (Pickled Pig), all on gravity dispense. Both beers we tried were excellent and we also had a very pleasant conversation with the friendly owner. Highly recommended 10/10.

Twelve of us went one evening last week, we had warned them, and it was a brilliant evening! Lovely beer AND they do sausage sandwiches!!
Will go again....

Bar on the platform of Downham Market station. GBG stated opening hours on Saturday as 10am-10.30pm. We arrived between 1.30pm and 2pm to find a sign stating the opening hours as 10am-10.30pm but the pub very much closed! No idea what the pub or the beer was like but wasn't too impressed to find a pub on the platform of a station closed on a Saturday lunchtime. A local in the nearby Crown Hotel said it didn't open until 4.30pm on a Saturday. I would advise a phone call to check they are opening before bothering to visit this one.

Had best start the ball rolling on this one as I think it is here as I think it is here as my suggestion. Very small bar which I entered from the London bound platform of Downham Market station. The railway and other assorted memorabilia work well here. Of the two beers on I tried the Elgood's Ice which was a very nice pint. Am not normally a fan of jazz but it wasn't overpowering noise and fitted in well with the general atmosphere.Would have missed the train and had a few more beers here had it not been the last train I was waiting on. I think this is a realtively new venutre and hope it thrives as every deserted railway station throughout the land could do with something like this to while away the time spent waiting for a train.
