Excellent pub, very friendly and helpful new management, good value for the area, food freshly prepared and good portions.

Superb small pub in a small village on a narrow country road from Wilton to Warminster which is parallel to and easily accessible fromthe A36. Friendly locals, well kept beer and excellent food - what more could on want?

Visited on 24 November en route to Devon and chose this pub as we use the A303 regularly. The pub is easy to find so getting back on the A303 was no problem either. A cracking country pub and as I wasn't driving I was able to sample each of the ales which were on offer - Plain Ales - Sheep Dip, Hopback - GFB and Milk Street - The Usual. All were in excellent condition. The food was superb as well and cooked on the premises, the usual Sunday roasts were on offer but also with roasted root vegetables rather than just boiled or steamed "greens and carrots". The menus also had some less common choices so I had the ox cheek and red wine casserole which was delicious and good portions too. Very friendly staff and they said that both the beers and food change regularly. Well worth the visit (especially if you're not the driver!) and we will definitely go back!

Tucked away local site in tiny Stockton - and what a find. Stayed locally and wanted to find somewhere to while away an evening, and this didn't disappoint. Cracking ales, well kept, and the service was friendly. As a Wiltshire lad, I have been to a fair few country sites but never had as warm a welcome. Food was stunning and won't hesitate to recommend. Well worth a detour if you are heading up (or down) this way. A gem.

Recently reopened under new ownership. Serving three real ales all from Plain Ales Brewery at the time of my visit. Arty Farty, Inntrigue and Sheep Dip. All three were excellent and my personal favourite was the Inntrigue at 4.2%. Very friendly pub with Mac and Anna, the new owners providing a very friendly welcome along with Laura who used to run the pub. No food available at the moment but the old chef is returning and a menu will be available from mid-September. Well worth a visit.
