I have amended my rating for this pub as I do feel that there has been a much needed improvement. My last two or three visits have seen great, friendly & fast - service, whilst the beers & ciders on offer have also been looked after properly and had a great selection to choose from. My only gripe would be the seating arrangements, which include a sectioned off area for food service, which is nearly always empty. The main part of the pub can be quite busy so on the last two occasions, my friends and I were forced to stand in a corridor that lead to the theatre & toilets as the empty are is strictly diners only. When you are disabled and have to use a stick this can be quite a problem.

Still, all in all well done to the Curtain's Up - my rating of 0/10 some years ago was fully justified then but you are now 8/10.

A pretty decent pub of the modern variety: typical lager available, several ales and quite nice food. It's all stripped wooden floorboards, simple tables and chairs and a good sized bar in the middle of the main room. Staff efficient and polite. Was briefly in here the other day and tried the Adnams Lighthouse (3.4%): a very clean, amber beer with a solid hoppy taste. Could drink that all day. A very good pint to recommend to someone unfamiliar with ale.

I did once spend quite a long session in this pub, pretty much from mid-afternoon until quite late, and the fact that I can't remember much about it, is surely a recommendation.

All in all, The Curtain's Up is the kind of place that if you live locally you'd probably find yourself in here quite a lot. It's not a "local" in the classic sense, but what's wrong with that? 8

Gastro/theatre bar which isn't as bad as many of the genre. Had Sharp's Doom Bar and Red on - tried the Red which wasn't much cop, certainly not worth having a second pint of.

So much better than it was a few years ago. Sharps Cornish Coaster and Doom Bar were both very good. The place is looking spick and span and decorated nicely througout. The bar staff quickly remembered our round and were polite and helpful. Little bit posey now but not such a bad thing with good beer and service.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this pub......
I can't knock this pub- except that it always seems to be busy! Good food, friendly staff, great fire place! & a theatre.... I'll spend all day here!
