| The Crispin stands right next to the Barbican. There were only 3 other people in plus the barman when I arrived. But the landlord and landlady soon returned. Ales were Sharps Doom Bar, Adnams Ghost Ship & Mad Cat Crispin Pale Ale. This was the only pub in Sandwich to stock a real cider, which was Friels. The pub has a cosy feel and serves Jamaican food. Although it looked a little pricey. One of the best pubs in the town, if not a little quiet on my visit. I moved on from here to the King's Arms Hotel (not listed on the site), which was another one of those pubs that falls silent when I entered. The "Can I help you" opening gambit there might as well have been "What are you doing here? I hope you're not here to cause trouble"! | Nice pint of Adnams Broadside here. Lovely courtyard sun trap area out the back next to the river. Thatcher's gold cider as well ... which was nice. I wasn't very impressed with the burger, but my partner said her Thai green curry was excellent. Pat_Bateman - 28 May 2015 17:22 |
| Three of us plus the dog went here on a Friday evening in August for something to eat. Friendly barman and interesting food menu. Good range of beers in comfortable surroundings of a traditional old timber framed building. Food was around the £10 - £15 range and served within 20 minutes. I had the Goat meat Jamaican Style curry which was very good. One of our group had a very good fish dish. The Landlord is very keen on his food and came over and had a chat with us about the dishes. The pub was friendly and well run and coped very calmly when a customer felt unwell with a medical condition. Staff had to ask for a First Aider and move people to other tables with a minimum of fuss. The toilets were clean and tidy. We would go here again. Chirple - 10 Jan 2015 13:00 |
