The Antelope’s bouncers are thugs. A member of the pubic was assaulted by two of The Antelope’s bouncers while walking past.

A very strange place indeed. 10pm on a Tuesday and there is loud music. Is it a disco? Is it Karaoke? Is it some sort of bastard hybrid of the two. I am still not sure.

What I am sure is there were youngsters singing and oldsters dancing. It was always going to end in tears. The oldster dropped his pint in a most spectacular fashion.

One of those places that Sky make documentaries about.

do NOT go into the Antelope bar. According to this bar its now apparently an offense to say "excuse me" to a bar woman, in order to gan her attention. It is also an offense to try and defend someone who does this and it WILL end in you not only getting thrown out, but being done so violently and inappropriately after saying that you will leave of your own accord.
My suggestion - DO NOT GO HERE. The bar staff I encountered was in a bad mood and took it out on each and every customer, this lead to her complaining about paying customers for no verified reason and lead to people being thrown out *in my opinion* in a rough and inappropriate way

Very rough & ready pub with large beer garden which is certaintly less oppressive than the inside. We tried the only real ale; the Courage Best & it was so-so. Slightly cloudy with a not overly pleasant taste - I would say it was served a bit too soon. Will only come back if part of a crawl, I had heard real ale is not their strong point.

I've re-visited this place a few times over the past year. Mostly around 8pm on a weekend when the place is still quite quiet and we can get a seat in the beer garden. The problem with this place as I said a few years ago - it needs a big refurb. When you walk in you are met with the overbearing smell of stale lager, urine and a general musky smell. The place is looking very sorry for itself and quite drab and even the beer garden could do with a spruce up now. The 'locals' are usually to be found at the bar stinking the place out even more, staring at you and sizing you up should you dare stand in their spot at the bar. It fills up with chavs and coke heads after around 10pm and the dancefloor that used to play some really good alternative/indie music now pumps out generic dance and R&B. In summary, go for a pint in the beer garden, then leave. There are better places around.
