| A bit similar to the 10 /20 but a bit more pub like (less cakes/food/brats though still evident). Suffers from anti-English bitter syndrome which seems quite common among the quasi-"real" beer brigade. Everything on offer bar one porter was a pale or golden. Snarling_Mallard - 2 Mar 2019 22:01 |
| This was our first call on Saturday after getting off the train to start our mini-tour of the great pubs available in Matlock. Plenty of ales on sale and the Brampton Mild I had was superb and The Oakham Citra was also on fine form according to my mate who gave it the thumbs up with a satisfied smile. | A good contemporary bar, not overly impregnated by ostentatious affluents or Sunday supplement hipsters but rather a discreetly relaxed and convivial atmosphere. On the downside the bar was rather cold temperature wise, and disappointingly food provision ended at 15.00 (at least it did on Saturday). However no complaints at the 7- 8 ales on offer taken from the likes of Oakham, Abbeydale and Blue Monkey breweries served by pleasant, attentive staff. Definitely worth seeking out. 7/10.
