user reviews of the Chapel, Broadstairs

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Quirky place. Used to be a bookshop and most of the books are still present!
A good selection of real ales served from barrels behind the bar.
The staff are friendly.
The main drinking area is around the bar but there is more space either upstairs round the gallery or in one of the small alcoves.
There is often live music on which makes the drinking area more cosy!
Well worth checking out if you're in Broadstairs and enjoy real ale.

The Chapel ended up being our final stop of the day. It's a wonderful little place and feels like you are drinking in a library. A bunch of schoolkids coming in and going upstairs gave even more weight to this. But we were here for the ales (and ciders). The ales were Whitstable Rennaissance, Tonbridge Blonde Ambition & G2 Crux Premium. But the piles of boxed ciders got my attention - East Stour Dry & Medium, Cherry, Blackcurrant & Lemon, Kingswood Raspberry & Mango, Brainbiter & Traditional, Kentish Pip Wild Summer, Firespice, Forager, Craftsman & Vintage Pip, Hendersons Toffee Apple, Dudda's Tun Dry, Sweet, Apricot Cider, Disco & Kentish Perry. The barmaid was a good laugh and we had a very good evening here, before making our way back to the station via a kebab house. Fantastic, atmospheric place.

A wonderful little place with excellent beers, very well kept.
Very pleasant, welcoming staff and a superb atmosphere among books and a small stage.

Wow. What a find. Friends had been here and wanted us to see it. Next minute we are inside and wow again. Beer excellent. Old dairy Kentish and Goachers. Not a World War Two plane in site !

Excellent.

Sunday night in Broadstairs and with live music advertised the Chapel looked very inviting. The music was provided by a 3 piece band that were playing a mix of old and new country music, they went down a storm.

6 barrels on behind the counter that were offering 4 ales with all of these being local Kent ales. Goachers Real Mild, Wantsum Ravening Wolf, Gadds Dragons Blood and my choice which was Tonbridge Blonde Ambition @ 4.2%. As well as the ales there was a decent selection of boxed ciders also available.

if you are unaware this is no ordinary bar it’s a bookshop aswell ! They also do small plates of food.

A cracking little bookshop, bar and music venue that needs to be seen to be enjoyed, but be your own judge and make a visit I personally don't think you'll be disappointed.
