user reviews of Queen Charlotte, Windsor

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

First stop on a Saturday afternoon stroll around Windsor was the Queen Charlotte, a backstreet pub that is one of a number in this area near the Castle and just off the main drag. There were just the 2 real ales on - Windsor & Eton Mandarin & Bingham's Xmas Cake. They also had Weston's Old Rosie cider on handpull. I chose the Xmas Cake, which was a typical slightly spicy seasonal brew. Bar staff were friendly. But this seems more one for the tourists than the locals.

Surprising GBG 2019 entry - looks like a gastro pub and from a chalk board offering Olives and Wasabi nuts to go with the beer, that would be a fair description.

Four hand pulls on - Black Sheep surprising "value" at £3.90. In decent condition.

Lots of dining, lots of tourists.

Busy pub, attentive barmaid, smoking at tables to front of pub. I had Weetwood @Madhatter' a pleasant pint.

Landlord is always drunk if he's ever there can often be heard snorting various things from the toilets. Have taken my wife here a few times so as to give it a fair crack but every weekend is the same. Bar staff are lovely, but the landlord would be better suited to a different career, possibly town drunkard or professional drug addict. Not well suited to the upmarket image that this establishment seems to be going for, despite being strikingly similar to the debauched Bullington club.
