Friday night in Ringmer used to be fun!
Since the Anchor has been taken over the pub has changed.
When the last owners left they took the atmosphere with them.
What used to be a friendly village pub has declined into a pseudo city wine bar.
That in it's self is not necessarily the utter downfall. The problem is surly unprofessional staff, lack of attention and a general bad attitude.
It is sad that a lovely old village pub that used to heave over the weekend, full with friends having a drink or three is now pretty much empty.
Being charitable we tried it again last night. Mistake! Should have stayed in with a warm tin of 2% lager.
It would have been less excruciating.
Expensive, unfriendly, uninviting. Don't waste your money or your energy.
Life is too short. Garden looks good though!

A very enticing villagepub on the village green, well, thats from the outside, on entering the modern decor is very jarring indeed, this place would be better served having an old fashioned pub interior. Please don't tell Beerwulf, he would have a hissy fit and burst into tears! Three real ales on including a micro in decent condition, but oh ! the decor! 4/10.

The Anchor was our favourite pub of the day. It is situated just across from a cricket pitch, where a match was being played. Nextdoor, there was a flower show in the village hall. The pub itself was quieter than I had expected. It has a garden, with a bouncy castle installed. Beers on were Cronx Standard Bitter, Titanic Anchor & Harveys Sussex Best Bitter. The real cider was Battle Cider, which is fetched from the cellar, assuming the bar staff know it is there. Luckily the landlord was around to prompt! Most of the pubs we sampled in West Sussex were good. As one of only two that sold real cider, this one edged the others.

Average large village pub with friendly staff; a bit too quiet for Sunday evening, even with Euros on., Local micro beer was good enough. Pleasant looking village for a walk.

Hi Thomas76 - I did speak to her and she followed it up with more insults. I gotta say I have never complained about a pub before. I was accused of being drunk (I had 2 drinks) purely because I objected to being spoken to with such disrespect. Was pretty mad at the time but I try and treat people with respect and hope for the same.
