Now the Number 1 Harbourside. Fine ales from Bristol Brewing Factory but the Sunday Lunch needs a special mention. Stunning.

I struggled to find No. 1 Harbourside initially. It is part of a modern quayside development with many cafes and bars. This place is a modern bar too, with tables outside which were all occupied on this sunny afternoon. The ale range was good - Bristol Beer Factory It's Mild, Seven & Sorachi, Arbor Summit & New Bristol Brewery Super Natural. Cleeve Orchard Medium was the cider. Doesn't really have the atmosphere of a pub. But nevertheless this is a decent place to know about next to one of the ferry stops.

Not too bad but a few issues like unclean tables when there were only a few customers and loos not up to scratch. Five pumps but only Bristol Beer Factory beers on, not that there's anything wrong in that. It's ok but I don't think we'll rush back such is the competition in Bristol these days.

Yes, now called No1 Harbourside. Much much better than its previous incarnation with 4 ales on including Bristol Beer Factory, Butcombe, and one from Isle of Purbeck. Beer quality OK (Sunrise) but not so (Fossil Fuel) It would be nice if the staff didn't look like you just pissed in their chips when you ask for a taste before buying. Especially if quality can't be trusted.

Now known as The Harbourside, this pub has been given a new lease of life and is now aiming to attract a slightly more discerning clientele than many of the chain bars that inhabit this stretch of old dockside warehouses. In the strictest sense you could probably argue its not a pub, but more of a caf/bar type establishment. However, it has a decent range of beers on tap, so its well worth a review.

The front of the bar is almost entirely glass, affording great views across the river. Theres also a few leather sofas outside and several tables and chairs along the waters edge. The bar counter is a big slab of some type of granite, and theres a raised area down at one end which is presumably used for bands as there were a couple of speakers set up. Bar staff seemed friendly and helpful. As though to emphasise its caf credentials, there was a selection of cup cakes and croissants at one end of the counter.

Besides the bar, there is also a ticket office for the ferry service that departs from outside the door, and a small counter selling Teas and Tinctures. Dont ask me what a tincture is, Ive got no idea, but thats what the sign says. The acoustics are a little noisy, there were only another half dozen or so people in there on a recent Monday evening and it was still quite loud. There was an extensive menu chalked up on a board next to the bar.

BBF beers dominate the bar with their Sunrise, No. 7 and Milk Stout. There was also Bath Ales Spa. Ciders were Bounders and Burrows Hill Farm Cider straight from the barrel.
