Very quiet on a Monday lunchtime - there were only three customers when we arrived, and one of them looked like an ageing roadie on his last legs. But I'd guess this place livens up in the evening, as it's known as a rock music venue. Minimal furniture - as far as I could see there are only two tables and a pool table. Pleasingly there were 3 real ales. Come in the evening if you want a livelier drinking environment.

Visited Stevenage for football, and was told not to expect very much, but after going in several other pubs, visited Red Lion, made to feel welcome from staff and as a rock fan,had great evening watching live band.

Gosh - what a place. Cavernous inside with pool table and a juke box that sadly has no Nick Cave. Or PJ Harvey.

But its outside that all the action happens on a warm summer night.

There is a elderly gentleman that surely isnt with that woman. She appears to be drinking real ale from a pitcher. With no glass.

There are assorted other groups of students, covering all the groups from leather bound Guns and Roses fan to too cool for school hipster. Hipster shouts out and asks if anyone is selling cocaine.

My favorite was the well bearded sandle wearer who everyone called Jesus.

One strange place. I had to stop for another to see what happened next.

If you like live music and friendly staff then this is the pub for you, this pub has a large beer garden and smoking area for those sunny afternoons and 2 bars including a pool table, touch screen juke box, quiz machine and fruit machines. this place can get very busy on the weekend as there is usualy a live band so i would advise you arrive before 8pm. there are many food outlets close by so very handy for that late night kebab. on a whole this is a friendly and welcoming pub and i would recomend it to anyone

Well my very first review, however also my first visit to Stevenage old town. It's a Sunday afternoon on a lovely summers day, I'm choosing it to sit in this dark and noisy pub sweating away watching some young lads ay pool and a geezer playing on the dart board. A mixture of the old, drunk, rockers and young pups, the large bloke behind the bar seemed ok and was quick to serve, not so the other lad with his headphones on. Stuck with a pint of guiness at 3.10 which was fine and tasting how it should. An ok pub.
