Well, I speak as I find and the truth is that this is a Sam Smiths pub and as such suffers from all the issues that go with it - such as only Sam Smith products to drink, absolutely no music, not even a rendition of 'Happy Birthday' and very limited food. However my main problem is with the now sanitised and brand new interior - no clutter allowed, and hence little character in a pub well over 200 years old. Well done Humphrey Smith and his very odd brewery!

From April 2009 new managers took over the Emmott Arms in Rawdon. These very polite and hard working managers have turned the pub around and even got the brewery to refurbish the pub. The Emmott Arms pub has been a pub since the 1760's. The interior is victorian in design with local historic pitures decorating the walls. It has two rooms. The tap room, that welcomes dogs and thier owners. Also the place to play domino's & darts. The lounge is for the posh folk and where the food is served. The Emmotts is a great place to dine. A new menu, tasty food and at reasonable prices. Lunch is served 12 -2pm Monday to Friday. The drinks are the cheapest you will ever find in Yorkshire! The staff are all very friendly. They do a great Quiz night which starts at 9am every Thursday night and the winning team wins a gallon of beer or lager.

Any bad reviews before this and after my review then please take no notice. This old traditional village pub is now a great pub and ideal for a great night out without any trouble. Pub age group: 30 upwards.

Looks like this pub has now had the re-furb that IKB was calling for. No longer tatty, this pub was warm and welcoming on my recent visit, and felt like one of the Sam Smiths pubs in London, rather than one of the grotty Northern outlets. It was steady on a Saturday afternoon with a few locals enjoying a quiet drink. It was clean, tidy, and I was served promptly - my OBB was fine, and at 1.45, still very reasonable. My associate assured me the Alpine was up to scratch too, and we left satisifed. I didn't see the darts board though? Maybe that's gone.

Desperately needs a refurb as it is very tatty. Seems to be neglected by the brewery, and the management are rarely seen behind the bar, so there isn't the feeling of the pub being cared for. When the management are there they certainly don't go out of their way to be the "hosts". Old dried flower arrangements left to get dusty for years and curtains that are a mess are just two of many examples of the state of the place.
It's such a shame as the pub could be superb, so we just have to make do with the excellent Sam Smiths and occasional good company!

A nice local with friendly bar staff and locals, (never see the managers)the food on the specials booard is average and not cheap, sandwiches nice and good value. Sam Smiths pub so price is very cheap but not a lot to choose from, the pub is in desperate need of a refurb very tatty in some places. The bar staff are what makes this pub!
