| No longer a Jim Thompsons. It is caverously large, has some good draught beers and a garden. Also a pool table, table tennis (why not!!) , dartboard. It is a bit marooned away from other other pubs in the area and customer volumes probably suffer because of this. The new management are good and this place deserves to do well. | Now the Captain Cook. Apparently the new owner is a New Zealander. I wish him luck, he is going to need it. The pub appears to have very customers. Not helped by the fact that when I visited the off duty staff were lounging about on the sofa's with their feet up the walls. | As previously mentioned, this is now called the Northumberland. Decent pint of Flowers, although it was served short. Sports on two TVs (not my thing). Later on, I ordered a pint of tap water (along with a gin and tonic and a J2O). Landlord refused to serve me tap water, instead wanted to flog me bottled water, and tried to justify it by saying he only made 10p profit on it.
