We dropped in for Saturday lunch in mid January, having checked a few online references. It's not impressive from the front, having a narrow frontage. It's also useful to know that there is a decent carpark accessible via the drive at the left side.
Inside, the Green Man is an interesting combination of local bar and lounge plus hotel and restaurant. It's also a combination of old and new - the dining area proper looks to have been recently(?) decorated.
We found several real ales on tap and a freshly lit fire to greet us on a cold wet afternoon. We asked for a bar menu and were directed to a full menu with a good selection of sensibly priced options. As two of our party have special dietary requirements, we asked for guidance. We were very pleasantly surprised when the chef came out to discuss the menu with us and make sure she got it right first time.
We had a very enjoyable meal with very good and friendly service. If we're in the area again, we will certainly consider dropping in.
We noticed a fairly spacious garden area at the back - complete with benches and kids' play area.

Not bad & preferable to the Dun Cow although 'tattier' (in a nice locally way)
Food was nice (on second attempt!) and beer served well
I agree bar is cliquey, bit chavvy and very noisy, but at least it's business keeping the place open!

I entered the lounge and ordered a Hooky Bitter (3.6%), which was nice enough. Lounge was empty but the Bar side of the pub seemed busy - it was certainly noisy. Local friends I supect.

I felt more relaxed in here than in the Dun Cow, it's a real pub not a food pub. Although I believe they do serve food at times (don't quote me on that though).

Welsh chap behind the bar was friendly and my second pint, Courage Directors was nice too. I had had a skinful by that stage though.

Oh dear. When will the new owner get things right? The atmosphere is a bit cliquey - regulars are mainly friends of the owner or manager, and there have been 4 chefs running the kitchen in the past 3 months, with at least as many menu changes. Not the greatest choice of beers either for a 'boozers' pub. The Manager and Assistant Manager are very young and inexperienced. Go to the Dun Cow, or better still the Black Horse in Bilton!!!
