Lovely, friendly young guys behind the bar, couldn't do enough for us. Great selection of beers for hubby and a real treat for me..proper, cloudy Scrumpy! We visited a few times during our week in Windermere. The Sunday lunch was excellent and the Monday 'Steak Night'offer was great value for money, both our steaks were cooked exactly to our liking, the only drawback for me was a purely personal whinge...frozen chips! If they had been hand-cut, i would have awarded 10/10!
A very family-friendly pub too, with a good choice on the children's menu.
Highly recommended, only pub worth visiting in Windermere as far as we are concerned!

Very good pint of Black Sheep bitter in a friendly bar, that's the top priority. Menu limited but my Rack of lamb was excellent. Lola's steak was good too. Breakfast couldn't be faulted either, Lola loved her sausage (New manager was particularly proud of his locally sourced black pudding). Service very good, accom ok, we chose the std room which was clean and comfortable (manager said std would be decorated to their superior rooms' grade this summer).

We stayed at this pub for a weekend in February 2007 it had just had new managers for 1 week!!! I would recommend this pub to everyone, Excellent Food, Excellent Beer, Excellent Accomodation and Excellent Friendly Service and Staff. I would definately be visiting this place again, the New Managers went out of their way to make our stay most enjoyable. Def give this pub a whopping 10 out of 10.... Well done to the new managers!

Well, well, well; what can I say? I came here with my now deceased partner, for over 17 years. In the late 80's it was owned by a family, the Yorkes. Then by various companies, latterly Honeycombe Leisure. In 2001, it was fine; good managers, Taylor and Mel, not forgetting Louie Benjamin; then when they left.....a huge downslide. I went in only last week for old times sake, what a dump it has become. They have ruined the "lounge area" by knocking the wall through, the beer is rubbish, and the atmosphere is terrible. Talking to a well known local landlord, the manager now is a failed staff of his, and the hotel has had a massive turnover of managers in the last few yrs. I wonder why, any ideas Honeycombe? Eh? Rest in peace, Grey Walls.

Well I've no idea when it was decided that the beer was 'off' but it was changed when the Landlord/ Manager appeared shortly afterwards. Was into the Blond Witch by then though.
