Small single room bar (with an upstairs to which I did not venture) seemingly mostly populated by members of the legal profession. Indeed one could easily imagine Rumpole at a corner table with a bottle of claret and lighting one of his small cigars (at least before the smoking ban).

Seating was limited but comfortable although the beer selection (Bombardier and GKIPA) was uninspiring. Ok for a drink but not one to make a special effort for.

I've worked pretty near for years but until recently had never bothered going in, put off by the fairly gloomy black-painted frontage, I think. Inside, it's rather better than that: I didn't go upstairs, but the street-level bar was compact and tidy (albeit with one or two odd posters about - one side of the bar was labelled somebody's "VIP Corner"!) Generally, this is a fairly old-school place of a kind disappearing in the City - it reminded me of something like the Blue Anchor off Chancery Lane. The landlord was again of the old school: very friendly and helpful. I noted two ales on, albeit only GK IPA and Bombardier's. The food looked very basic - no proper menus, merely a few basic options ("ham roll" etc.) scrawled on a chalkboard. Slightly odd as you'd imagine lunchtime is a key moneymaker for bars around here.

Small-ish pub at street level, but with an upstairs bar which seemed to be more popular given the number of people venturing up the stairs (although I didn't have the time to do this myself). Nice pint of St Austell Tribute, and two other real ales on.

A great little pub.
Very small but the couple running the pub are extremely friendly and accomodating.
Always a good place to get a seat and always served fast.
