Now taken over and completely overhauled. Being marketed as a 'foodies pub'. It looks a lot better and is receiving good reviews for the food. They do need to market themselves to the local community so the locals understand that change has taken place. Encouraging!

A decent pub. Nice to see a lack of pine varnished floor boards, designer lagers and besuited executives....but then whatever makes you comfortable I guess. Personally I didn't spot any dangerous poor people about to start on me....I mean Phill Mitchell....he's a bit dodgy isn't he? Anyway on a more serious note. The food was good standard pub grub that fills you up...and the portion was very generous. I drink cider and it's always a pleasure to find something that isn't Strongbow on offer. My only slight problem was that at four pounds a pint and ten quid for a meal going to the pub seems to have got very expensive. Where have the days of a meal and a pint for five pounds gone? Sadly I think its probably the same everywhere. All in all a good place for a drink, and a bite to eat with some friendly folks. Plus it feels like you could live in it...always a winner.

The problem with the Six Bells is a lack of continuity. When they have a decent manager/landlord the place picks up and people DO use it. The problem is, they move on, an indifferent manager takes over and all the good work goes to waste. The Greene King tie doesn't help. Those fools just strangle whoever comes in. The beer was alright on my recent visit but the whole place could do with a spruce up! The smoking ban hit this pub hard. If it was a Free House and someone with an inkling of intelligence took it over it would flourish!

How many Phil Mitchell lookalikes can you fit into one pub? Try this place and you'll see for yourself. No Peggy behind the bar though - in fact for the first ten minutes after entering there was nobody behind the bar at all. The beer (when we were eventually served) was crap as well. Although the food looked reasonable we'd lost the will to live by then, let alone eat, so never got that far.

Used to be good, but went there recentlty and was pretty bad.

Place is pretty knackered looking. Slightly uncomfortable atmosphere. Small selection of ales, but not very well kept.

Heated smoking area is reasonable.

Only stayed for 1 pint and was glad to get out of there.
