| Upstairs is the Thai restaurant although you can also eat at the tables in the downstairs bar. I fancied a pint of draught Leffe but that wasn't on so it then became a question of what did they have (their world beer list on the blackboard needed updating). Eventually I settled on a bottle of Orval which didn't really pair that well with my excellent Moo Pad Prik Gang (no smirking). Cask ales were Oakham's Tranquility and JHB, Lacons Patriot and Black Panther (the local one not the Cambodian version). Small and somewhat quirky but worth a visit. paul_d102 - 18 Jun 2018 19:10 |
| The Vine is a very strange place. It is tiny and primarily a Thai restaurant. But it also serves some interesting ales. On our visit yesterday, there was Oakham JHB & Car Thief & Baird Beer Maris Otter 50. The latter was a Japanese ale brewed to commemorate the 50th harvest of Maris Otter barley. Nethergate Red Santa was being pulled through. The Thai owners certainly don't seem to mind the real ale drinkers. In fact, they appear to positively encourage it. Whilst this can't make for a romantic atmosphere for those who are there for the food, I understand there is a downstairs too. Worth a visit. blue_scrumpy - 13 Dec 2015 15:55 |

| My first pub when visiting Norwich for the Man City game, and really enjoyable experience (think I went years ago but don't recall the Thai). Thai looked pricy on the web-site, but lunch-time deals were better, and complemented a super dark beer from Fat Cat. Thai owner(?) was discussing beers with customers. mtaylor40 - 9 Feb 2014 21:14 |
