I used to go to The Swan in the 90's and would say that it used to be a great pub for both drink and atmosphere. Chris and maureen used to run the place and along with the drink the food used to be a bit of an attraction particularly the Sunday roasts! the pub was frequented by a range of punters from University delinquents to the darts, pool an football teams. Joan and her husband Graham used to run the football team and many a found memory I have of that too.
I have may found memories of The Swan from Uni days to afterwards when working down there - I should have stayed - I once dreamt of running the place! Who knows maybe I'll return one day! I hear that the place is now boarded up and shut down - what a shame. I would love to bring it back to life again!

Closed and boarded up. What is happening to pubs in this area? First the Duke and the Cambridge Arms, now the Marlborough, the Bricklayers and the Swan: all gone.

i used to go the swan years ago when chris and maureen had it. after that it developed a bad reputation so i didnt go in. i went in the other evening and wow has this pub changed. someone has spent a lot of money on this place. the furniture in the front bar is amazing. the two girls behind the bar were friendly and helpful. the menu is small but hey not many pubs in this area who do pizzas right up until closing time. ok on the negatives think maybe they should bring back darts and deffo do sunday lunch. this pub is deffo user friendly and nice to find a bar that girls can go in without feeling threatened. no real ale but this pub seems to be more of a bar than pub. also found the manager to be helpful and friendly. on the whole i give this pub/bar a thumbs up and ill be going back soon
