| The building itself looks slightly better on the inside than the horrible outside. Bar staff can be friendly but depends if it's busy and they may be rushed off their feet. Food and drink are slightly (around a pound) more than Wetherspoons pubs in other parts of the country. It has a good range of beer and the food is standard Wetherspoons fayre. The downstairs part can get very noisy with people speaking so it's best to stand upstairs. IMG1975 - 13 Oct 2012 09:34 |
| I needed to use their loo but out of courtesy I had a beer as well - Silver Stallion from Cotleigh was fine and the barman was actually quite friendly for a Spoons! Hideous building but it serves a purpose I suppose. mcroyal - 7 Jul 2011 20:21 |
| This place was never going to to be fukll of character given where it is (under a modern office block) but echoing comments below it is a normal Spoon's in fact above average I'd say. Beer has always been decent and regular selection of guest ales. Decent clientele as well. Can't comment on the food though. Keep up the good work Tim. paddyrussell - 21 May 2011 13:44 |
| This is a nice, comfy Spoon. It's not up to the Crosse Keys, but it's clean, the service is good, the downstairs bar has eight pumps, at least six of which are devoted usually to ales (the other(s) being for cider). Also the ale is cheaper than the Crosse Keys and the Hamilton Hall (which is on the duff side), £2.45 a pint rather than £2.65. Certainly a welcome stop for a pint or two after an afternoon at the Globe or a spot of shopping at the Tesco. Spoons don't offer pub heaven, but this is a nice compromise. | Decent enough 'spoons. Nice interior and fairly spacious downstairs. Was very quiet even for a Tuesday evening when I was in there but i'm assuming it was down to the England game being on. telephones_and_toliets - 7 Sep 2010 23:02 |
