Couldn't agree more with a previous post, came here a few years ago when it was in the GBG, this time seriously run down. Only two ales on Holdens Golden Glow and Wye Valley Butty Bach. It was strange that a random customer asked me if the beer was ok, even before I'd tasted it!

Looks like it should be a good pub from the outside, inside it`s quite a large place, traditional wood floors, olde décor and large bar. Couple of real ales on which was in decent nick. regulars seemed friendly enough for a Sunday afternoon. Worth a visit if your in the vicinity.

Went last night ... the pub is a shadow of its former self

Only 4 guest ales on last night, we had the abbott reserve which I must say was kept well

German and Belgian beer taps have now gone

A very loud disco was playing which seemed really out of place

There were very few patrons, seemed more huddling outside the front door smoking.

What a shame as I used to love this pub and previously rated it 9 on here

I've been less than impressed with this place in the past but fair does, the RCH Old Slug I had in here the other night was the best I've tasted for a long time, and one of the best pints of any beer I've had recently.

Luckily there were few people in as there was only one serving behind the bar - it's always understaffed. It's a lot cleaner than it has been though. The owner tends to let the pub run down before spending money on it rather than keeping on top all the time. It's still inconsistent but when it's on form this is a pub worth visiting.
