| Functional little pub from the Taylor Walker stable. Straightforward sort of place with a room upstairs with a dozen or so tables. Ales were London Pride, Bombardier and a special Santa's Spirit (I think it was called). I suddenly noticed the big range of standard lagers on tap: Estrella, Becks, Peroni, Carlsberg, Kronenberg and a few more. Can you have too much selection in a pub? Anyway, staff were firm, if efficient. TV with the football on (no sound). Wednesday night office workers basically. It's never going to be the best pub ever, but a OK sort of place I suppose. It struck me that the room upstairs would be appropriate place for a secret assignation. The chances of bumping into anyone you'd know would be pretty low. | Hugely busy thanks to location but an unimpressive beer selection. Like a lot of pubs in the West End, it doesn't have to try hard to pull people in so it doesn't bother. We sat upstairs to avoid the pavement crowds and the food looked alright. Fine for a quick one but you wouldn't settle in for the night. EN5 - 31 May 2011 14:54 |
| This place has gone downhill noticeably in the last few years. It's in a busy location, which guarantees them a regular 'passing trade'. It seems the management have decided they can get away without making much of an effort - and it shows. fluiman - 15 Oct 2009 17:00 |
| There were more people outside this pub than in during my visit which could have been due to the nice setup of seating merging with the many restaurants or it could be due to the overly loud dance music blasting out of the speakers on a Tuesday night. There are a couple of TV�s that were showing Sky Sports news which was muted, not that anyone was watching them. Bombardier, Greene King IPA and Pride were available during my visit alongside a limited standard draught selection and the barman was nice enough in a disinterested kind of way.
