Proper traditional pub recently decorated to a very high standard, imposing both in and outside. Never been in before but on a busy Friday night the barman remembered our order from the first pint which was impressive. Well kept beer and overall the best pub I visited in Carlisle.

Another town centre pub, on the edge of the Lanes shopping centre and with a splendid exterior and interior. This pub has 2 separate rooms, which are both small and cosy, especially when busy as it was late on Saturday evening. The barmaid was very friendly. Ales on were Theakston Best Bitter, Robinsons Dizzy Blonde & Weetwood Cheshire Cat. I had the latter. But I'd have much preferred a darker beer. The real ale range may not be mind-blowing. But it's worth a visit to sample a very traditional interior.

Very busy on pub on match day but still didn't have to wait long to be served. Old fashioned type of layout with lots of smallish rooms. Only tried the Guinness which was very good but they also had an extensive range of hand pulled ales. Well worth a visit.

Couple of ale choices. OK but not outstanding.

It was okay - ale (Thwiats Wainwright) was about drinkable.
