user reviews of Square, Leicester

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Absolutely banging music in the daytime playing to what appeared to be generally quite a large barn of alcoholics. The Thatchers Gold at 2 a pint was a welcome bonus. All in all a really bizarre place, seems more like a nightclub...6/10

Back in the late 90s in Leicester this was one of the new fancy bars opening up, complete with a huge revolving TV in the middle of the bar. It was a huge space, massively popular on weekends and heaving with people dressed up for a night out. Went back years later and its turned into one of the roughest pubs in Leicester city centre. Door staff on during the day because of the amount of trouble. The karoake DJ is a nightmare. Saw him throwing broken CDs across the road towards the other rival pub (over the heads of passing shoppers and children) whilst f***ing this and that over the mic at full volume, loud enough for anyone in the general east midlands area to hear. Pillock. Avoid this like the plague!

This is a serious hole of a pub - nothing approximating a real ale to be seen.

Bar seems to go on forever with endless fizzy fonts dispensing watery pish which the regulars knock back with gay abandon (though don't use the phrase "gay abandon" in ear shot or you might receive a beating)

On my last visit some talentless tosser of a Karaoke DJ was "singing" with the PA set at a level just above Ear Bleed.

Shaving with a cheese grater is about as much fun as drinking in here.
