The Prince of Wales pub name originates from the title , The Prince of Wales. This is normally conferred on the heir apparent of the monarch.

I bookended my first day in Cardiff with Wetherspoon's: Great Western straight off the train as a rain shelter, & this one for dinner, several pubs later. A more usual Wetherspoon's experience, lots of noise & bustle, with several mildly intoxicated folk. My pint was Doom Bar (2.29), not very adventurous but reliable. Dinner was, as usual, good value if not Michelin ranked.

Just time for a very quick pint before getting the train. Not overly busy but usual JDW problems insufficient staff and couldn't find an unoccupied table that didn't have uncleared plates/glasses. Beer range average but only handy for the station.

Large JDW pub next door to the bus station. Train station and main shopping street nearby. Some cask ales, but the selection could have been better in a pub of this size. The JDW food menu is quite extensive now, and the food here was okay.
