Has gone back to being the castle. OK pint (no real ales which at this end of Durham is shite) but not a place I would go back to in a hurry dazzadurham - 23 Oct 2010 11:04
Not bad for a theme Irish bar. Decent seating and flooring, usual suspects on the bar, no real ale of course. The toilets are in the entrance corridor. You can nip in if caught short without even having to buy a half of fizz. Decent enough music plus a quiz machine and a pool table. Been in worse. ROBCamra - 9 Feb 2009 15:50
Same pub, same beers, good, same friendly staff, but they have changed the name to "SHAMROX". WHY? Barbeera - 31 Jul 2008 14:23
For once, the change to an Irish theme bar from a traditional English bar was a vast improvement. Let’s just say, the old Castle had somewhat of a reputation. For the past 11 years, O’Neills has providing a bouncing, but good natured atmosphere and top quality live music. No real ales, but good pub food – the sausages and colcannon are highly recommended. fairport79 - 14 Feb 2007 22:36
