I have not been in this pub for many a moon so I was interesting to go in and have a look round since its name change. The dcor is completely different and it has obviously had a bit of money spent on it so it looks quite good. However, when I walked in at nine oclock on a Saturday night, I found only four people at the bar. The atmosphere was somewhat lacking. There was also a lack of real ale as they had all gone off and this was very disappointing. The upstairs room is now given over to a function room, having been full of pool tables the last time I entered. This is where I spent most of the evening as I had been invited to a function there. The bloke behind the bar was not the most cheerful of chaps and seemed to disappear more often than not meaning that punters had to wait quite a while to be served. This place is normally rammed on a rugby day but I will not be looking to come back in a hurry.

The Rugby Tavern - now called The Garryowen is under new management
Jason and Steve want to welcome you to the pub - and look forward to meeting you, and hearing your views on how we can create a fun community pub that builds on the exisiting rugby client base and also encourages all others to frequent the premises.
We want this pub to be a great place to have a beer and relax - come and see us soon!

The perfect venue for a group after Rugby 7s.The live band on Saturday night was top class. The service behind the bar was very good with all the bar staff having a laugh under preasure.I think there must be a change of management in this pub because its 20 times better that my last visit. The larger now tastes good and chilled. The glasses are also clean. We will be back for the world cup games in June.Well worth a visit.
